Nam Kee Clay Pot Rice (南記煲仔飯)

Nam Kee is another favorite place of mine for casual dinners.  Although the restaurant is located in an inconspicuous lane in a residential area, it's quite famous among locals and tourists alike.  It's less than 5 minutes away from Keung Kee Signature Lamb Pot (強記秘製羊腩煲) so these two places work like supplements for each other when the other gets too crowded.

As usual, I like to go there early (before 7pm), to avoid the crowd, and before everything is sold out.  My favorite is the yellow eel (黃鱔).  The more traditional favorites are chicken with mushroom (北菇滑雞), pork ribs (排骨), Chinese sausages (臘腸 / 膶腸), etc.  Add a sizzling chicken clay pot (啫啫雞煲) and vegetable soup to complete your meal.  (Don't forget the beer!)

This place can be hard to find since it's located in a back alley.

We like to go there super early so it usually isn't very crowded.

Seasonal Vegetable Soup with Minced Fish (芥菜鯪魚湯)
The vegetables changes seasonally and this soup is also good with tofu.

As usual, dinner at Nam Kee is always  followed with a visit to Hang Heung Yuen (杏香園).  :)
